Outsider BBQ began as a humble roadside smoke shack founded by pitmaster Jake Morrison in Austin, Texas, back in 2012. With a smoker built from an old oil drum and a dream to serve authentic Texas-style barbecue, Jake’s slow-smoked brisket and homemade sauces quickly made Outsider BBQ a local legend. What started as a weekend pop-up soon expanded into a full-fledged restaurant — and eventually became a community favorite for smoked meats, craft sandwiches, and signature sides.
The Outsider BBQ menu features everything from tender brisket and juicy ribs to loaded mac and cheese bowls.
Ultimately, loyal fans discovered a few “off-menu” secrets — like the Brisket Melt and Double-Smoked Burnt End Burger — dishes whispered about by insiders who know what to ask for.
