Dickey’s Barbecue Pit began in 1941 when Travis Dickey opened a small BBQ joint in Dallas, Texas. With just a few menu items—slow-smoked brisket, pit ham, and barbecue beans—he focused on quality, flavor, and friendly service. It didn’t take long for locals to fall in love with the smoky aroma and homestyle meals.
Over the years, Dickey’s grew from a single shop into the largest barbecue franchise in the U.S., still run by the Dickey family. While the menu expanded to include pulled pork, ribs, sausages, and more, the heart of the restaurant stayed the same: real, slow-smoked barbecue served with Southern hospitality.
But here’s something most fans don’t know—Dickey’s has a secret menu. From brisket-stuffed mac & cheese bowls to BBQ tacos made from fried potato skins, these hidden items are favorites among insiders. They’re not printed on the board, but ask the right pitmaster and you might just score one.
